JOB RESPONSIBILITIES
- Lead Incoming Inspection of incoming material and maintain and report data related to incoming inspection.
- Respond to shop-floor quality problems by investigating the problem and initiating the appropriate containment (e.g. sort, rework) and corrective action;
- Utilize a variety of inspection instruments and techniques to ensure compliance to process and product specification (e.g. dimensional, clamp load, surface finish, appearance, adhesion, continuity, etc);
- Monitor Cost of Non-Quality drivers (scrap, WCPHU) and develop action plans to improve;
- Perform torque tool calibrations on pulse tools and critical DC tools;
- Assist with issues related to Supplier Quality as per the business needs
- Support SQE and report on supplier product quality performance as needed
- Assist development and management of Supplier Development
- Review and disposition non-conforming material (scrap);
- Contribute to New Product Development programs by participating in design reviews, and Process FMEA's.
- May need to provide training to production employees on quality documents
- Need to create quality work instructions as needed
- Facilitate root cause analysis of internal - non conformances
- Knowledge and experience using several different measuring tools such as calipers, dial indicators, screw gauges, laser scanner, gloss meter, and depth gauges
- Maintain calibration records and database. Maintain calibration log and renew devices and calibrations as needed
- Able to initiate containment and store non-confroming, suspect and obsolete parts in a designated area
- Follow up with material testing as required per department and record test results to report to quality
Required Qualifications
- High School Diploma or Equivalent
- 3 years’ experience working in a manufacturing environment;
- Strong teamwork skills but the ability to work with minimal supervision;
- Strong mechanical aptitude;
- Willingness to learn additional skills (computer skills, inspection techniques, statistics, etc.);
- Computer literate with knowledge of Microsoft Office and Google Suite
- Proficiency with mechanical inspection tools including calipers, thread gauges, micrometers, pin gauges, and indicators.
- Ability to travel to suppliers and other BRP locations in the greater Lansing area
Preferred Qualifications
- Associates Degree
- Fiberglass furniture, paint, powder coat and aluminum extrusions experience
- Strong problem-solving skills with knowledge of a structured problem-solving method (e.g. DMAIC)
- Ability to travel to suppliers and other BRP locations nationwide
PHYSICAL DEMANDS: While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to talk and hear; and use hands to manipulate objects or controls. The employee is regularly required to stand, walk, bend, squat, push, and pull. The employee will be required to lift 30+ pounds, and work at Elevation of 3 feet or greater.
