Responsible Rider

The Responsible Rider program is about being present when you’re boating and always considering safety, etiquette and the environment, whether you’re out on the ocean, lake or river.

To stay safe on the water, boaters should be aware of their surroundings, follow local laws and regulations, and always wear a life vest. Be sure to check the weather forecast before heading out.

When it comes to the environment, boaters should respect the waterways, wash their boat before and after a ride, and always be mindful of invasive species with regards to cross-contamination.

Every boater needs to know the basic etiquette for safe and courteous boating. Always follow regulations on alcohol use, be mindful of speed limits and no-wake zones, and pay attention to the right of way.
